Owlet started when three dads started offering more peace to young families. And like any dad on a mission, they created the award-winning Smart Sock, trusted by more than 1.5 million parents. Our three founders – Kurt Workman, Zack Bomsta and Jordan Monroe – sent a letter to Owlet’s parents who shared their continued commitment to helping parents everywhere.
As soon as you leave the hospital with your baby, things become a reality! You went to the hospital without a title, but I left with the greatest title of all – a parent. This overwhelming moment of transition to fatherhood was what inspired us to develop the Owlet Smart Sock.
With babies, dads and families in mind, we want to help parents strengthen the right information at the right time. Although we had the same goal, the three of us work with our personal experiences as fathers. Kurt was personally motivated by the worries he had when he and his wife started their family.
“With advances in technology, I knew there had to be a better way to watch our babies sleep. It was blowing in my mind that we had the technology to tell me almost everything except what was most important to me as a parent. “
After a disturbing night with his little girl, Zak had an opportunity to run with Kurt who felt like an answer to his problems and an indicator of his future.
“I met by chance my friend, Krt, on campus in the laboratory of electrical engineers where he worked in an original circuit. When he explained to me that he was working on a “smart sock” that would monitor the baby’s heart rate and oxygen level to give the parents peace of mind, I immediately took gooseberries because what he described resonates so strongly with me as a result of the experience that I had with my daughter last night. I had experienced the pain he was trying to solve. I knew I had to go in to help bring his original to life and deliver the same peace of mind I wanted to parents everywhere. “
From Owlet’s humble beginnings until now, with over 1.5 million parents trusting Owlet, Owlet’s mission is burning in the hearts of our company and Jordan too.
“Owlet’s mission was like fire in my bones and it still is today. Almost 9 years later and my tears still look good when I think of the huge impact we have been able to make on people’s lives. “
We have achieved a lot more, there is still a lot more to Owlet. As we continue to grow, we would love for you to follow and celebrate with us! We just started Instagram @ 3dadsandaco so give us a follow up to watch the exciting Owlet news and take a look at our lives as dads.
We want to thank all of Owlet’s parents out there who are part of our growing community. You and your families are the reasons we do what we do and we hope your sleep time was a little more peaceful and refreshing because of Owlet.
I wish you and your little ones the best,
Kurt, Jordan and Zack
