Zipadee Zip vs. Nested Bean Sleep Sack

Zipadee Zip vs Nested Bean – both the Zipadee Zip Swaddle Transition Sleep Sack and the Nested Bean Sleep Sack are great products. But do you need both? Is One Better Than Another For Your Baby To Sleep?

In this blog post, you will learn about the two products we recommend!

Zipadee Zip Swaddle Transitional sleeping bag

We recommend the Zipadee Zip for a long time even before they are in the Shark Tank. The Zipadee Zip, created by a company called Sleeping Baby, is a really great invention to help your baby sleep better when it’s time to stop waving.

The “wings” of Zipadee Zip prevent your baby from feeling like they are falling when the Moro reflex is still strong. Many babies are ready to walk away from the lid before the Moro reflex is gone, where the Zipadee Zip shines. It is safe to sleep, especially when a baby is rolling and otherwise cannot be covered. And, it is also good for when your baby does not want to be crammed, but does not seem to be asleep without it.

If your baby has eczema or scratches, Zipadee Zip will protect the skin. I was always awesome to keep my baby nails cut!

There are many different styles to choose from for Zipadee Zip. And, although you will not need wings as your baby grows, so many babies love this sleeping bag that small toddler sizes make!

Nested bean sleeping bag

Nested Bean products are very innovative with the simple premise that sometimes you just need a hand to feel comfortable. This mimics their lightly weighted products: the feel of a parent’s hand on your baby. Of course, there is no perfect replacement for your hand, but it is a great idea!

While Nested Bean has a few different products, what you would compare to the Zipadee Zip would be the Zen Sack which is a sleeping bag you use after you are done.

The Nested Bean Zen Sack has a 2-way zipper and is lightly weighed with non-toxic poly beads to give just the right pressure to your baby’s chest. Or, you can reverse it if your baby is sleeping on his stomach, although Back is better to reduce the risk of SIDS. This sleeping bag is made of 100% soft, breathable cotton with 0.5 TOG. This means it is light which is very flexible.

Zipadee Zip vs Nested Bean Sleep Sack – Which is Better?

Both the Zipadee Zip and the Nested Bean Sleep Sack are great sleeping bags. But what is best for your baby to sleep?

We have worked with families who have used both and customers love both products. As a sleep consultant for over 10 years, I can tell you that any product would be a good choice. We give the Zipadee Zip the advantage simply because many babies will not sleep better in the sense of “hand on the chest”. Most of the babies we work with need to be picked up to relax. We like the idea, but it just seems to work some babies. Therefore, it simply functions as a regular sleeping bag. There is nothing wrong with that, of course, but if the weight does not “work” it loses its special value. Therefore, we highly recommend Zipadee Zip for many babies, but there are a few things to keep in mind first:

  1. Does your baby use a pacifier?
  2. Does your baby like to suck on his thumb, fingers or hands?
  3. Does your baby like to crawl while sleeping?

If you answered no to all of these questions, Zipadee Zip is a great choice!

However, if you answered yes to any of these questions, Zipadee Zip may or may not be the best sleep for your baby. And, for this reason, you can choose Nested Bean or another sleeping bag. We have a list of the Top 10 Best Sleep Sacks here.

The baby likes to suck on the thumb, fingers or hands

If your baby likes to suck on his thumb, fingers or hands, it may work well. Some babies just suck their hands through the feather cloth. But, if your baby really likes to feel his nipples or thumb in his mouth imitating a nipple, this may not work very well. Some babies will adapt while others will struggle. This can lead to excessive crying during sleep training.

The baby has a pacifier

Some babies suck their pacifier while they sleep but then do not need it again. This would make using Zipadee Zip work well.

However, some babies struggle with self-determination when they cannot maneuver their own pacifier. We want your baby to be able to wake up between sleep cycles, find his own pacifier and put it back on. For these babies, we would recommend a sleeping bag with hands out, such as the Zen Sack or the Bitta Kidda with built-in love. Use the coupon code BABYSLEEPSITE319 for a 15% discount!

The baby likes to crawl around or get up

If your baby likes to crawl around the crib while relaxing or in the crib, he may prefer to keep his arms free. We have not heard many complaints about Zipadee Zip in this regard, so it is a small issue, but depending on your baby, it is something to consider.

Zipadee Zip vs. Nested Bean – Which to Buy?

If you still do not know which product to buy and can not try both, I highly recommend starting with Zipadee Zip. This is based on more than 10 years of working with families and receiving reports about products that their babies love. I know from the experience of many families that your baby will probably love it!

Of course, your baby’s pajamas are just one variable that affects your baby’s sleep. And that’s what we do here at The Baby Sleep Site!
